We went to Liberia as a hub to get to the national parks, not realising the only tour they did for a reasonable price was to Rincon de la Vieja. The other national parks cost around 100 US dollars each, which is crazy money. The tour we did was 20 US dollars each for the return transfer, 700 local Collones each for the private road fee and 15 US dollars each for entrance into the park for the 2 treks we did. It was great fun though! If you want to do the other parks, your best off hiring a car or staying somewhere like Playa Hermosa where they have access to more tours.
Liberia itself is a cute town, which isn’t very touristic. It’s easy to walk around and safe with a few places to eat and drink.
Best Bar & Food
Palermo- We got treated like royalty here with free shots and nachos. The beer was a good price and they would always check to see if we were OK. It is the only place in Liberia which appears to have a beer garden and big screen TVs for sport etc. It opens at 5pm.
Choriabad food truck- The best Chorizo hotdog we have had
